The creation of your new garden usually involves the following steps:
1. A topographical survey of the existing garden provides the baseline or starting point for the design. This survey plan will typically show buildings and boundaries, walls or other fixed features, planting beds, trees, any water features, and manholes and service runs where known. Spot heights will also be indicated where relevant to the design.
If the garden or site is particularly large or complex, it may be appropriate to commission a digital survey compiled by surveyors using laser surveying equipment to very accurate tolerances.
2. Using the survey as the reference or base plan, sketch proposals are prepared responding to your brief and then presented for discussion together with photographic images of various design elements to aid in visualising the scheme. Budget estimates can be calculated to keep a check on costs. Once any amendments have been made, the masterplan design is then drawn up. Together with any supporting construction details this is the definitive plan used by the garden or landscape contractor to build the garden.
3. Regarding the soft landscaping and planting, this is usually carried out once the hard landscaping has been completed. The planting is either defined plant by plant on a planting plan or is selected, supplied and set out by Trevor ready for final agreement and planting out.
Fees for these services will be provided on a comprehensive, stage by stage schedule to assist you in keeping track of each stage of the design process.
